Body
The king penguin is the second largest type of penguin, smaller only compared to the emperor penguin. These penguins are usually about 70 to 100 cm tall (28 to 39 inches) and weigh between 9.3 to 18 kg (21 to 40 lbs). King penguins can be recognized by their bright colors. They have a clear, bright orange patch on their cheeks and yellow-orange feathers at the top of their chest, which are different from the lighter yellow colors found on emperor penguins. Both male and female king penguins look alike, although they can be told apart by their different sounds. Males are also usually a bit larger than females. The striking colors and big size help tell king penguins apart from other types of penguins in the wild.
